"And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood."

The word Eucharist is a Greek word that means "thanksgiving".  When the bread and wine are consecrated by the priest at Mass, they cease to be bread and wine, and become instead the Most Precious Body and Blood of Christ.  It is through this transubstantiation that Christ is really, truly and substantially present. One of the most important services we could do is to help share Christ's Body and Blood as an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion.


Some of the responsibilities would include:                                                              

• distributing the Blessed Hosts
• distributing the Precious Blood
• returning the Blessed Hosts back to the Tabernacle
• purify the holy vessels after Mass

Training at a workshop is given.
